Full, active, and conscious participation is a goal of parish liturgy and worship.

Following the documents of the Second Vatican Council, a high priority is given to the quality of worship in our parish.
LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

Liturgy Committee
The Liturgy Committee coordinates long-range planning and assessment of worship in the parish. This committee normally meets once a month. They also assist in decorating the Church for major seasons. New members are always welcome. Meetings are open to all parishioners.

Environment and Art
A small group of parishioners create and maintain the wall hangings that provide an artistic environment for liturgical feasts and seasons. Additional help and support is welcome.

Sacristans
Members of the Parish take responsibility for cleaning the sanctuary area of the Church each week. Washing and preparing the sacred linens used in our services. This is normally done on Fridays after the 9:00 a.m. Mass. The Altar Society contact person is Brenda Garcia 301-890-9716.
On weekends, the Sacristan is Lourdes Quintilla.

Lectors
Adults and high school students who read with dynamism and love for God’s Word proclaim the Word of God at Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Training is provided at least three times a year for all new ministers. Individual instruction can also be arranged at any time. Schedules are distributed regularly for a fixed number of weeks. Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers assist in the distribution of the Eucharist during the liturgical celebration and/or also bring Communion to the sick and homebound of our Parish Community. At least three times a year there is a training session for all new members. Schedules are done on a regular basis to provide an opportunity for as many to participate as possible. This ministry is open to fully initiated persons 18 years of age and older. The Eucharistic Ministers contact person is Tom Sobotka, 301-384-7708.

Ushers/Greeters
These ministers of hospitality welcome all who come as Christ himself. Practical duties include distribution of worship aides and hymnals, taking up the collection, and assisting with seating. Training is provided. The Ushers/Greeters contact person is Becky Gredlics, 301-596-2793.

Altar Servers
Altar Servers play an important role in our parish services. Altar servers are responsible for assisting the celebrant throughout the service. Two to three servers are needed for each mass during weekends. Both young men and women who have attained the age of ten are eligible to participate in the Altar Server Ministry. Schedules are posted in the upper pastor’s office weekly, and all servers are asked to review the schedule regularly. All necessary training is provided on a regular basis.
