LACS: Hot Gumbo Swingtet – Sacred and Secular Hot Jazz!

Halley Shoenberg’s New Orleans Hot Jazz and Swing Band performs traditional jazz favorites inspired by legends like Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, and Benny Goodman. This concert will feature classic hymns from the traditional jazz repertoire, along with popular secular standards and a few of Halley’s original compositions in the early jazz style.
The group has entertained audiences across Maryland and Virginia, performing at Great Gatsby parties, dances at the Glen Echo Spanish Ballroom, the Victorian Chautauqua Festival, the Sandy Spring Museum Strawberry Festival, a Moulin Rouge-themed party, and events hosted by the Potomac River Jazz Club.
The band features six talented musicians playing clarinet/saxophone, trumpet/cornet, trombone, piano/banjo, tuba/bass, and drums, with several members also contributing vocals. The Swingtet delights both dancers and listeners with energetic, crowd-pleasing performances.
