As a church community, we would like to acknowledge Fr. John Barry on this very special weekend. 35 years ago, on May 21, 1988, Fr. Barry answered a call to the priesthood, and was ordained at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Washington, DC. Since then he has served in many parishes in Maryland, most recently serving for 10 years at St Edward’s in his childhood town of Bowie, MD.
Fr. Barry came to us at Resurrection about 6 years ago, and as our Pastor, he has shared his great knowledge of scripture, and love for the Lord. He has ushered in caring, listening, and joy! He has modeled and encouraged INVOLVEMENT. Involvement with the Lord, involvement with your family, with your church community and the community around you.
All these gifts have helped us grow in our faith and as a community. And — Father Barry has taught us all a little more about baseball along the way!
Congratulations Father Barry on your 35th Anniversary as Priest. May God continue to guide and protect you in this Noble calling.
