Helping those affected by cancer to live as fully as possible.

The Cancer Support Group started in 2014 with a mission to support people living with cancer and their primary caregiver. Meetings are once a month on the third Thursday from 7:15 to 8:15 in the Parish Life Center. Holly Pertmer, a licensed clinical social worker with a career in oncology both in the hospital and hospice settings, facilitates the group and provides resources and tips.

The group pledges confidentiality for open sharing in a safe space. Those who are newly diagnosed, receiving maintenance treatment, and facing end-of-life issues are encouraged to participate.

The group provides a supportive place to discuss a variety of topics such as communicating with relatives and friends, finding good doctors and talking with doctors/other medical providers.

The group helps those affected by cancer to live as fully as possible in spite of treatment and the emotional and psychological impact of the disease by maintaining a positive focus.
