Intermittent rain did not dissuade about 40 animal lovers from participating in the annual Blessing of the Animals at Resurrection Church on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Oct. 4. During the blessing service, Fr. Barry sprinkled the animals with holy water with a small tool called an aspergillum, while the animals (and their owners) also were springled with water from above. The annual blessing of pet dogs, cats, birds and other small pets has been held at Resurrection for about two decades.
