Parish Anniversary: 30 years in the Upper Church!

November 10, 2019

Two Anniversaries—The Parish Founding and the First Mass in our church. The parish had its official start on Easter Sunday, April 19, 1981, while its first Mass in the church (upstairs) came later, on  November 12, 1989.  The date of our first church Mass does mark our full going forward as a parish, with its own altar and sanctuary to use, so we will observe it annually from here (on the Sunday closest to Nov. 12th 1989). Three decades ago, the church was consecrated by Cardinal Hickey. We have gathered around our home altar ever since, united in The Eucharist.

Msgr. Jack MacFarlane will celebrate today‘s anniversary with us (10:30 Mass). We will name the bell tower after him. Also, earlier this year, we have re-named the parish’s Knights of Columbus council after the pastor following him, Msgr. John Pennington, here for the first usage of the church. Thousands upon thousands of liturgies later, our parish keeps in prayer and worship and community in Christ Jesus our Lord. The parish has been a good one for this Eastern Montgomery County corridor.
We want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him, in newness of life. (rf: Romans 6:4-5)

A reception will follow the 10:30 mass, in the Amadeo Room.
