Living the Gospel: Why Stay Catholic?

February 27 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

“Living the Gospel” is a 2018-2019 Adult Faith Formation Series
A Joint Venture of St. Camillus, Resurrection, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Churches.

In several sessions thus far participants have expressed pain and confusion as the church deals openly with revelations of sexual abuse. Questions arising in the sessions include those related to trust in church leadership and how to encourage staying Catholic, especially with younger church and family members.
With the crisis of abuse and power in the Catholic Church many are wondering whether or not to remain Catholic. Other, deeper questions are also emerging:
What is the point of being Catholic?
How can practice of the Catholic faith support living the Gospel today?
The session includes a facilitated discussion for participants to openly air these and other questions and hear different perspectives. The purpose is more about how to engage the Gospel and the heart of the Catholic faith to help address these charged questions, and less about convincing people to stay Catholic. Periods of prayer and reflection will help participants encounter the Good News of Jesus, which is the essence of Catholic life.
