Purpose

The Pastoral Council works in collaboration with the Pastor toward the fulfillment of the spiritual and general well-being of the parish community. The Council also makes available to the Pastor the knowledge and experience of the laity in temporal and spiritual matters pertaining to the good of the whole parish. Elections to the Pastoral Council are held annually in the spring and members are elected to a three-year term. Any registered parishioner, at least 18 years of age, is eligible to run for election. In addition, we have a pastoral youth representative who is appointed for a one-year term. If you are interested in serving on the Pastoral Council, please contact the Pastor or a current member of the Council.

The Pastoral Council regularly meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Parish Life Center. These meetings are open to all parishioners as observers.

The members of the Council are very interested in comments and feedback from Parishioners. Feel free to contact any of the Council Members. • To empower the members to express their needs and voice their vision.
  • To study and grow in the Word of God in our daily lives.
  • To reach out, to be inclusive, to be open and inviting within and beyond the parish and to become individually responsible for establishing community with the parish.
  • To encourage and challenge youth about our faith.

Life in the Spirit Seminar
A weekend of growing closer to the Lord through a series of talks and work groups. These sessions are held annually.

Our parish youth ministry empowers youth to embrace their Catholic faith and to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today by drawing them to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the faith community. Through faith formation gatherings, spiritual activities, service projects, athletics and social events they develop and grow in Christian discipleship and in Christian identity. The youth ministry welcomes all parish teens (and their friends) in grades 6 through 12 who attend public, catholic, private, or home school to participate in any or all of the parish youth activities scheduled through out the year. Adult volunteers and chaperones are required to complete the requirements in compliance with the Archdiocese Policy 2010. Most youth gatherings are held in the Parish Life Youth Center.

For more information and for high school youth interested in serving as core team leaders, please contact Helene Stever, Director of Youth Faith Formation, 301-236-5200 ext. 13 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
